Alain Troesch is a recent arrival to the winegrowing scene, having settled here at the end of 2022.
After a career in biology/microbiology research and development in the health sector, in France and abroad, which ended at the end of 2020, the next step was obvious: becoming a winemaker, a project that was very close to his heart!
With his wife, Alain bought an estate in Régnié-Durette, comprising 5 hectares of vineyards (in Régnié-Durette, Lantignié and Villié-Morgon), a vat room and vineyard and winemaking equipment. Today, he works alone on the farm, but he can count on the support of his family, as this project is also a family adventure!
Training (a diploma viticulture-oenology at Davayé in Burgundy) and work placements in the Beaujolais and Languedoc regions gave him the theoretical and practical grounding he needed to launch this new adventure. The first year of operation (including the first vinification) was full of learning and new experiences, for which the help and support of local winegrowers was much appreciated!
Concerned with developing sustainable viticulture, by banning the use of synthetic chemical products and limiting the use of oenological inputs as much as possible, he began the process of converting to organic farming right from the start.
A study is currently underway to determine the most appropriate viticulture and winemaking techniques for this conversion.
